Justin Rudd’s Community Action Team Invites Public to Enter “Roses Are Red…” Poetry Contest

Justin Rudd’s nonprofit Community Action Team (CAT) invites the public to enter the “Roses Are Red…” poetry contest following the “30-Minute Beach Cleanup” on Sat., Feb. 15, 2014.
To participate in the cleanup and poetry contest on Valentine’s weekend, arrive 9:35 – 10 a.m. and get free parking when you enter the beachfront lot at 1 Granada Ave., Long Beach, 90803. This will be the 177th consecutive month of the 30-Minute Beach Cleanup. All ages and sizes of groups are welcome. The cleanup is from 10-10:30 a.m. and will be followed by the poetry contest.
RULES: Poems can be read and must be under 30 seconds. All should start with “Roses are red…” and be original. Entrants can enter as many as three poems. Poets of all ages welcome. Age and grade level will be taken into consideration by judges. Awards include $20 bills.
In addition to the free parking, organizers will offer free bags, gloves, door prizes and refreshments.
