Leadership Long Beach invites the community to learn more about the programs and activities of LLB at its kick-off event of “Tour de Leadership 2011” on Monday, March 7, 2011. This free event will be an informational meet-and-greet for interested individuals who would like to learn more about the LLB adult principled leadership programs – Institute and Executive Quick Start – for the 2011-12 year. The event will be held at the offices of Keesal, Young & Logan.

The goals for the adult programs include connecting people of diverse backgrounds with demonstrated leadership abilities and a commitment for the future of Long Beach; providing an educational experience that encompasses all aspects of the city; and creating a strong network of alumni who can serve as resources for the community. LLB prides itself on incorporating principles, core values and ethics to the leadership and informational sessions in order to have the participants gain a fuller understanding of the city and the region.

“Leadership Long Beach has been one of the best kept secrets of the city for a long time,” stated James Kruger, President-Elect of the LLB Board of Directors. “We have been putting our program participants and alumni in direct conversations with city and business leaders for the past 20 years, addressing key issues and encouraging involvement on all levels of our community. We want to make sure that we continue to invite and attract people who want a rewarding experience and be able to find their niche to engage themselves within the community.”

In addition to providing prospective program participants information about LLB programs, the Tour de Leadership is a Spring mixer for LLB alumni to gather and network while they also get information about upcoming events, activities and opportunities for LLB. In the coming months, LLB will have community service projects completed by its youth and adult LLB programs, the 16th Annual Putt-Putt on Pine – a ‘friend-raising’ event in downtown Long Beach, the “Paving the Way” Community Campaign and the youth and adult graduation events.

At the June graduation, Leadership Long Beach will be celebrating its 1000th graduate from its premier leadership programs since 1989. LLB graduates are engaged in all segments of the city – including government, nonprofit, business, religious and education – and the wealth of ‘alumni capital’ in the stewardship of the city makes LLB a valuable asset. Each year has been living proof of our motto, “Strengthening Leaders, Connecting Communities.”

The “Tour de Leadership 2011” is Monday, March 7, 2011 from 5:30pm to 7pm at the offices of Keesal, Young & Logan, 400 Oceangate Long Beach, CA 90802. Free parking is available.

Attendees should RSVP by March 4, 2011 to Oscar Cosby at 562.997.9194 or o.cosby@leadershiplb.org. LLB program application information is also available online at www.leadershiplb.org.
