Community safety meetings urge Bixby, Cal Heights residents to get involved

The Community Safety Meeting, Wednesday, February 10 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Hughes Middle School Auditorium, 3846 California Avenue.
7th and 8th District Council Members Tonia Reyes Uranga and Rae Gabelich will host the meeting and welcome guest speaker Long Beach Police Department North Division Commander Hendricks. Safety meeting topics will include:
- how citizen involvement can help city officials and the police department keep the community safe and secure.
- updates on recent activities, neighborhood watch and security precautions will be presented and discussed.
A spate of criminal activity has targeted homes and businesses in Bixby Knolls and California Heights recently. Local officials and LBPD want to seize this opportunity to teach residents and business owners to proactive forces can lead to a safer community.

Later in February, residents are encouraged to attend an information meeting to learn about the most effective way residents can help fight crime—before it begins. The Neighborhood Watch Program meeting will take place Wednesday, February 24 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the North Division, 4891 Atlantic Avenue at the Del Amo.
