On Saturday, October 19th, please join 7th District Councilmember James Johnson, the West Long Beach Association, and volunteers for a community tree planting in Hudson Park along the Green Wall pilot project.

“We’ve had two goals with testing this new type of wall.  First, we wanted to create a barrier to block the noise and visual blight and we feel the wall will do that better than a hard-surfaced brick wall.  Our second goal was to trap particulate matter at the source and create clean air, which the trees, bushes, and vining plants along the mulch wall will do, making this a living ‘Green Wall.’  This is another step in improving the air quality for West Long Beach residents.”

The new trees, bushes, and vining plants will supplement the Green Wall pilot that was completed in August, trapping particulate matter at the source and creating fresh oxygen, helping fight air pollution.  Additionally, the plants will beautify the wall and make it resistant to graffiti.
