Vice Mayor Suja Lowenthal & RPNA Host a “Community Tree Planting”

community-tree-planting RPNAVice Mayor Suja Lowenthal and the Rose Park Neighborhood Association (RPNA) are seeking volunteers for the Community Tree Planting, Saturday, March 26, 2011. Volunteers will gather at the Big Lots Parking Lot, 2300 East 7th Street (at Junipero).

The community tree planting is Saturday from 9am-12pm. Vice Mayor Suja Lowenthal will present a short speech by and planting instructions between 9:00 am – 9:30 am. Volunteers should wear comfortable shoes and clothes for the planting.

Funding for the trees is provided by a grant through the Southern California Air Quality Management District and volunteers from the residential, business & educational communities are being asked to help plant the trees. The group will plant approximately 30 trees in the Rose Park neighborhood. Thus far, Lowenthal’s office has successfully partnered with neighborhood and business associations to plant over 50 trees in the last month.

Additional support has been provided by City of Long Beach, Office of Sustainability, City of Long Beach, Public Works Department, City of Long Beach, Neighborhood Improvement Division.
