The Found Theatre of Long Beach will host the debut of a new play written, directed and performed by Long Beach artists Maggie Boles and Katie Faris: “Consider the Match.” Through the use of the surreal, absurd and awkward, “Consider the Match” follows two friends who ponder the complexities of today’s human existence through a series of quirky scenarios.

“Consider the Match,” by Maggie Boles and Katie Faris, is a series of vignettes related by similar themes. Making use of the absurd, surreal, and awkward, a small ensemble cast will lead the audience through a series of comedic and dramatic situations. There might be blood. Probably not though. You’ll meet Izzy and Rebecca, George and Justin. You’ll meet Alf and Bert, Shawna and Raegan. You’ll meet Reader and Stretcher as they form complementary parts and illustrate the complex dynamics of friendship. Oh, and you’ll meet the Pizza Guy. Together, all these characters will ponder their existence, try to find their places in the world, and attempt to figure out why raspberries are so damn refreshing.

“Consider the Match” runs for one weekend only, Friday and Saturday, August 1 and 2 at 8 p.m., and Sunday, August 3 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 and are available at http://m.bpt.me/event/775486. The Found Theatre is located at 599 Long Beach Blvd., Long Beach, CA 90802.
