2013-06-13 · By Editor
Construction activity is ongoing along the northbound I-405 off-ramp and southbound I-405 on-ramp at Seal Beach Boulevard. This activity is in preparation for a traffic shift scheduled to take place on these ramps the week of June 17. As construction progresses on the Seal Beach Boulevard bridge, nearby on- and off-ramps will be realigned to accommodate the final configuration of the new bridge.
Motorists will notice major activity at Seal Beach Boulevard as crews work day and night to reconstruct the west half of the bridge. Full nighttime closures of the northbound and southbound I-405 freeway at Seal Beach Boulevard will continue nightly for the next several weeks. Portions of the northbound and southbound I-405 freeway will be closed between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., nightly, Monday through Friday.

Night crews are hauling dirt settlement material away from the site of the 7th Street / eastbound SR-22 to northbound I-405 connector bridge. The material was used to help the earth settle before construction of the foundation for the new bridge and now that the settlement period has been completed, the dirt will be recycled and used in other areas on the project.
Intermittent daytime pile driving activity at the I-405 / I-605 carpool connector and 7th Street / eastbound SR-22 to northbound I-405 connector will be ongoing for the next several months. Pile driving activity is typically conducted weekdays between approximately 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., however may occasionally extend beyond this time frame. In addition, some Saturday activity may be necessary. Please be advised this work may be loud or disruptive due to vibration and pounding.
