The City of Long Beach and 6th District Councilman Dee Andrews is pleased to present the 6th District Budget Summit, 6:00 pm, on Tuesday, August 26th, at Ernest S. McBride, Sr. Park, 1550 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, Long Beach, CA.
Join Long Beach Councilman Dee Andrews and the City Manager, as well as representatives from the Long Beach Departments of Fire, Police, Parks and Public Works to discuss the 2015 City of Long Beach Budget.
As presented, the budget for next year allocates money for street improvements, funds for the third consecutive police and fire academies, the purchase of four fire engines, sets aside five percent of one-time revenues to pay for unfunded liabilities, provides funding for water efficiency improvements in parks and boosts funding for Police officer overtime to respond to gangs, human trafficking and homicides.
The budget has no significant reductions and applies a $3.1 million surplus. “With another year of surplus on the books, I want to know where residents want to see the funds implemented”, said Councilman Dee Andrews. “With the rising cost of CalPERS coming in FY16, there is a lot of changes coming our way and it is important that residents are a part of this process”, continued Andrews.
Your comments and suggestions for the FY15 Budget are welcomed. Please email or call the Office of Councilman Dee Andrews at firstname.lastname@example.org or (562) 570-6816.
