Councilman Andrews Invites Residents to Downtown Long Beach Lions Club’s Sight First Health Fair

Sixth District Councilman Dee Andrews invites residents to the Downtown Long Beach Lions Club’s “Sight First Health Fair,” on Saturday May 2nd, at the Martin Luther King Jr. Park Community Center, 1950 Lemon Ave, Long Beach. The event, from 8:00am to 4:00pm, will provide FREE eye exams and glasses to the first 400 people.
From 10:00am to 2:00pm, the Fair, in conjunction with the Long Beach Health Department, will offer FREE hearing, glucose, cholesterol, dental, HIV, hepatitis C, blood pressure, and body mass index screenings. There will also be educational tables on many health issues along with safety and injury prevention, bone marrow registration, family reading pods and gardening presentations. In addition, the fair will have activities for the entire family and music by DJ Hawkeye.
This event is sponsored by the Downtown Long Beach Lions Club and the Port of Long Beach. The event partners are California Lions Friends in Sight, Councilman Dee Andrews, Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services, West Coast University, Blind Veteran’s Association, Children’s Dental Health Clinic, For the Child, Leef, Long Beach City College, Long Beach Memorial Blood Drive Center, Long Beach VA Blind Rehabilitation Center, Miller Children’s Hospital, Salvation Army and Seal Beach Lions Club.
The Downtown Long Beach Lions Club is a community service organization established in Long Beach in 1921. The club is a group of men and women who work together to identify and fulfill the needs of the community of Long Beach. The event is free and open to the public.
