Councilman Dee Andrews Announces Free Senior Water Exercise Classes

One of the most important things for a person of any age to do is to remain active, but this is especially true of seniors. It’s clear that aqua aerobics or water-based activities provide significant benefits for older adults, including increasing metabolism. In addition, physical activity in general improves cardiovascular health, increases strength, slows down age-related loss of muscle mass, and the decrease of reaction time that comes with getting older. “Being a senior, I know the importance of staying active. A splash in the pool may help us to achieve our fitness goals while easing joint and muscle pain”, said Councilman Andrews. “This is also a great way to spend some time with friends or to meet some new ones”, continued Andrews.
Martin Luther King Jr. Park is located at 1910 Lemon Avenue, Long Beach. The Senior Water Exercise Classes are 8:00 am to 9:00 am, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday at the Martin Luther King Jr. Park Swimming Pool.
The Senior Water Exercise Classes are a joint effort of the Office of Councilman Dee Andrews and the City of Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation & Marine. The classes are free to senior 50 and over, with identification. For more information call (562) 570-1718, (562) 570-6816 or visit the City of Long Beach District 6 website.
