Councilman Dee Andrews to host a 6th District Neighborhood Cleanup In Remembrance of 9/11

Sixth District Councilman Dee Andrews, in partnership with the Long Beach Police Department, Long Beach Fire Department, Neighborhood Services, City of Long Beach-Department of Community Development, The Long Beach Housing Development Company and Pine Locust Revitalization Group to host the 6th District Neighborhood Cleanup, in remembrance of 9/11. The event will take place 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, on Saturday, September 11th, at 106 E. 20th Street.
In remembrance of 9/11, volunteers will be taking to the streets Saturday, September 11th and picking up garbage throughout neighborhoods in the 6th District. “I encourage my neighbors to join me to make a positive change on this memorable date”, said Councilman Andrews. “Keeping our neighborhoods clean and safe is a joint effort. We can not do it alone”, continued Andrews.
The neighborhood cleanup will cover Pine Avenue to Locust Street and 20th Street down to Pacific Coast Hwy. Some of the services being offered during the clean up include:
- Large dumpsters for disposal of all non-hazardous waste
- City of Long Beach staff to answer questions and/or concerns about the clean-up, disposal of materials, code compliance issues, etc.
- Free refreshments and information booths
- Mobile skatepark for the kids
- Tools, rakes, brooms, shovels, gloves, trash bags, and mask provided
In an effort to beautify neighborhoods one block at a time, Councilman Andrews encourages neighbors to get involved by volunteering or scheduling a clean up on their street. Get started making a difference on 9/11 this year by exploring charitable causes that need your help.
