Councilmember Al Austin announced Tuesday that the North Division Police Substation is once again open to the public four days a week. The front desk at the North Substation, located at 4891 Atlantic Avenue, will be staffed Tuesday through Friday from 12 noon until 5 p.m.

“I am very pleased to report the good news that our Police Station is once again open to serve our residents,” said Austin. “I have been trying to find a way to re-open our North Division Station with consistent office hours since I took office last year.”

Austin gave special recognition to City Manager Pat West, Police Chief Jim McDonnell and North Division Commander Robert Luman for listening to an ongoing concern of many residents.

“Re-opening our police station was a priority I have heard from many neighbors ever since the doors were closed several years ago due to budget cuts,” said Austin. “It’s not only a matter of public service, it’s a matter of public safety. I would like to thank city management and our police department for being responsive to the community.”

Among the services now available to residents at North Division during the hours they are open are filing police reports and issuing garage sale permits.
