Councilmember James Johnson

On Saturday, July 28th, join Councilmember James Johnson as he hosts We Harte B.A.R.K., a monthly event at Bret Harte Library.

The 7th District Councilmember has partnered up with B.A.R.K. (Beach Animals Reading with Kids) to encourage children to read by providing them with the opportunity to read aloud to friendly and attentive dogs. Founded in 2007, B.A.R.K. is a volunteer program that encourages children to increase their reading skills and self-confidence by reading aloud to certified therapy dogs. Students often find it intimidating to read in front of classmates; with the help of B.A.R.K., children increase their reading skills, self-confidence, and class participation.

We Harte B.A.R.K. is held every 4th Saturday of the month at Bret Harte Library. Children of all ages are welcome. Bring the whole family for this fun event at your neighborhood library. Don’t forget your library card!

The We Harte B.A.R.K. event is Saturday, July 28th, 2012 from 11:00AM – 12:30 PM at Bret Harte Library, 1595 W. Willow St., Long Beach, CA 90810.
