7th District Community Budget Meeting

Councilmember James Johnson

On Saturday, March 24th, join Councilmember James Johnson as he hosts We Harte B.A.R.K., a new monthly event at Bret Harte Library.

The 7th District Councilmember has partnered up with B.A.R.K. (Beach Animals Reading with Kids) to encourage children to read by providing them with the opportunity to read aloud to friendly and attentive dogs. Founded in 2007, B.A.R.K. is a volunteer program that encourages children to increase their reading skills and self-confidence by reading aloud to certified therapy dogs. Students often find it intimidating to read in front of classmates; with the help of B.A.R.K., children increase their reading skills, self-confidence, and class participation.

We Harte B.A.R.K. will be held every 4th Saturday of the Month at Bret Harte Library. Children of all ages are welcome. Bring the whole family for a fun and educational day at your neighborhood library. Don’t forget your library card!

The Harte B.A.R.K. event is Saturday, March 24th, 2012 from 11:00AM – 12:30 PM at Bret Harte Library 1595 W. Willow St. Long Beach, CA 90810
