This Saturday is the Covered California Enrollment and Health Fair at Houghton Park in North Long Beach, offering residents the opportunity to sign up for health insurance under provisions of the Affordable Care Act.

Highlighting the importance of healthcare, Ninth District Councilmember Steven Neal, U.S. Congresswoman Janice Hahn and State Assemblymember Anthony Rendon have joined forces to host this free community event.

“With increasing costs and lack of access, affordable healthcare is a top point of discussion in our community,” said Councilmember Neal. “Now, though, the time of debate is past and the time for action is here. Affordable access to healthcare is a fundamental right for all people, and we’re glad to be able to help facilitate this Covered California Enrollment Fair for our community.”

U.S. Congresswoman Hahn stated, “President Obama declared in his State of the Union address that this year would be a ‘Year of Action.’ Those of us who share the President’s vision, like Councilman Steven Neal and Assemblyman Anthony Rendon, are determined to make this vision a reality for the communities we serve. Our upcoming enrollment drive is the first in an ongoing series of collaborative efforts between our offices to put the will of the people into action. “

The Covered California Enrollment and Health Fair is Saturday, February 8, 2014 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Houghton Park Community Center, 6301 Myrtle Ave. Long Beach, CA 90805
