Councilmember Richardson to Host Houghton Park Master Plan Community Workshop Saturday
2015-08-28 · By Editor
Councilmember Rex Richardson invites all to participate in a Community Workshop for the Houghton Park Master Plan. This is the second in a series of workshops held for community members and stakeholders to give feedback on the park’s master plan.
Residents of North Long Beach are welcome to join Councilmember Richardson and the city’s Parks, Recreation and Marine and Public Works departments to share their ideas and provide input on the planning, design, and construction of Houghton Park.
“Upgrading parks and creating more open spaces is a major focus of my Roadmap to the Renaissance, and this starts with Houghton Park. I hope you will join me in this second workshop to share your experiences with my office and our city’s departments as we move towards completion of this plan by the summer of next year,” stated Richardson.
The workshop will take place on Saturday, August 29, 2015 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at Houghton Park, located at 6301 Myrtle Ave., Long Beach, CA 90805. Refreshments will be served.
Residents should RSVP by visiting ImagineHoughton.com or by calling (562) 570-3105.
The revitalization of Houghton Park is a key piece in Councilman Richardson’s Roadmap to the Renaissance. His roadmap includes three areas of focus: upgrading parks, community centers, and open spaces, revitalizing Artesia Boulevard, and rethinking Atlantic Avenue.
In November 2014, the city began initial outreach meetings to solicit feedback from the community for revitalizing the park and community center. Saturday’s meeting will be the second workshop opportunity for the public’s participation in the master plan.
