Councilwoman Lena Gonzalez and Pacific Gateway Workforce Investment Network will host a job fair to connect residents with local employers looking to hire. The event will take place on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at 9:00 am at the Long Beach Convention Center – Seaside Ballroom, 300 Ocean Boulevard; enter through Seaside Way.

“As a policymaker, I’m working to increase access to quality employment for First District residents,” said Councilwoman Gonzalez. “I represent a District with a 19 percent unemployment rate; that’s unacceptable. The Long Beach Job Fair will be an important step in connecting people to good-paying jobs here in their own City.”

More than 50 businesses will be participating, representing hundreds of local current and future employment opportunities.  Employers include: Arrowhead Products, DIRECTV, Lowes, Molina Healthcare and Tilly’s as well as dozens of other local businesses. In addition, job search assistance, employment workshops, and other resources will be provided by a network of local non-profit agencies and by Pacific Gateway, the City’s public workforce agency.

Participants are strongly encouraged to bring resumes, other employment documents and to come prepared for on-the-spot interviews.

Pacific Gateway Workforce Investment Network is a public workforce agency, dedicated to helping job seekers connect to employment as quickly as possible, as well as helping businesses through worker training programs, hiring incentives, and other resources. Pacific Gateway serves the cities of Long Beach, Signal Hill, and Los Angeles communities in the Harbor Gateway area.

Convention Center Parking is $10. Public transportation and/or carpooling are highly recommended. For more information, call 562.570-9675
