Councilwoman Suzie Price will bring forward an item that requests the current Request for Proposal (RFP) process be reexamined to increase the overall value of service contracts with the City of Long Beach. The purpose of the item is to ensure that taxpayer funds are spent wisely and prospective contractors are treated fairly in the bidding process. The item will be heard at the April 7th City Council meeting.
“It is important to have the most transparent and competitive bidding process that increases the value of our service contracts and benefits our taxpayers,” Councilwoman Price said in a statement.
The recommendation requests the City Manager and staff analyze the current RFP process, review bidding processes used by other entities, and report back within 90 days with recommendations to improve the procurement process.
The Long Beach City Council meets on Tuesday evenings at 5:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, located at 333 W. Ocean Blvd.
