Courtyard Marriott Long Beach Downtown and James Republic Host Dinner Bell Series Showcase Benefiting Chefs to End Hunger
2015-04-17 · By Editor
Courtyard Long Beach Downtown’s newly renovated public spaces will be the site of the James Republic Dinner Bell Series Showcase taking place on Wednesday, May 6, bringing the farm indoors. The event celebrates the second anniversary of James Republic and features the unique catering available at the hotel. In a departure from the usual monthly Sunday night Dinner Bell series, this one includes guest chefs, live entertainment and an anticipated 150 attendees. 10% of the proceeds will go to Chefs to End Hunger.
The evening begins with lively entertainment with tastings including hand-crafted appetizers and Muerto Tequila infused cocktails and Ballast Point craft beer. Guests are invited to gather with a number of local farmers and purveyors such as Weiser Farms and Tamai Farms. The family style dinner features dishes made with local farm-to-table ingredients gathered that morning at the Wednesday market. The menu is carefully crafted by Executive Chef David MacLennan and visiting chefs from across the USA who recently participated in a Beard House evening as part of a Dean James Max & Friends dinner in NYC. Celebrating sustainability and seasonality, wine pairings from Cline Cellars complement the menu.
“We are thrilled to have our namesake, Chef Dean James Max and a number of collaborating chefs from his destination restaurants flying in to join us for this very special gastronomic evening,” shares General Manager Silvano Merlo. “Together with our executive chef, Dave MacLennan, the very best in California coastal farm to table cuisine will be experienced.”
The cost is $85 per person and tickets are available online only at www.maydinnerbellseries.brownpapertickets.com.
For those wanting to make a night of it, Courtyard Long Beach Downtown is extending a special overnight package including guest room, breakfast for two in James Republic and parking, starting at $169. Reservations can be made http://www.marriott.com/lgbcy, using rate code “KF7.”
