The public is invited to attend the delightful silent film comedy, “The Kid Brother”, starring Harold Lloyd, equal to Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton in critical acclaim and one of the most popular silent film comedians ever! Considered today as one of Lloyd’s best films, “The Kid Brother” was directed by Ted Wilde and released in 1927 by Paramount Studios. This is a film for the whole family!
Jobyna Ralston, Walter James and Leo Willis also star in this humorous tale, which takes place in 1877 in rural Hickoryville. The most influential family in town, the Hickorys include the tough Sheriff Jim Hickory and his strong, courageous sons, Leo and Olin. Lastly, there is the wimpy youngest son, Harold, who is no match for his robust father and brothers. To gain his father’s respect and to win the heart of the lovely Mary, Harold must use his wits. With a bit of luck and a whole lot of hilarious adventure that will leave you laughing uncontrollably, he triumphs!
Accomplished organist Robert Salisbury will present live musical accompaniment, as he plays the remarkable Lough Memorial Organ. Salisbury began organ lessons at age ten and theatre organ at age twelve, studying with Gaylord Carter. At age fifteen, he began playing the Page Pipe Organ in the historic Casino Theatre, the focal point of Santa Catalina’s entertainment culture. During his career, Salisbury played organ at numerous venues, including the 488 Keys in Redondo Beach, California and piano for Princess Cruises. The American Theatre Organ Society awarded Bob with their national award in 2010. Bob and his wife Mary are now semi-retired in Desert Hot Springs, California. Bob continues to play silent movies and concerts and is organist/choir director for the Congregational United church of the Desert in Palm Desert CA.
