Enjoying a day out of doors is an exciting adventure for lots of kids, but for creative kids, it can be even more rewarding. Kids ages 5-14 from the Parks Recreation and Marine Miracle on 4th Street Park and the Drake Park summer programs recently spent a day at El Dorado Nature Center enjoying the out of doors and being very creative.
The results of that creativity are on display for the public to enjoy in an art exhibit at El Dorado Nature Center. The exhibit – Create a Day in Nature – includes an Opening Reception on August 5 from 1-4 pm, then runs from August 5 through August 26. The Nature Center is located at 7550 East Spring St.
Drake Park’s young artist included Jonathon Cortez, Sequoyah Hawk, Sheyennena Hawk, Elias Magana, Josue Magana, Jordan Moore, Alexander Sanchez, Lee Thomas, and Jessica. These young artists were assisted by Jessie Lopez from the park’s staff. The Miracle on 4th Street Park artist included Rita Arreola, Leslie Arreola, April Bello, Maria Bello, Heidi Madriz, and Alex Perez, assisted by Reba Castaneda and Jose Loza from the park’s staff. Parks, Recreation and Marine Mural Arts Program Supervisor Heather Green facilitated the visits and the exhibit.
This is a wonderful opportunity to visit El Dorado Nature Center, enjoy the beautiful out-of-doors and support the creativity and artistry of these young people. The art exhibit is free, but parking at the Nature Center is $5 Monday-Friday, and $7 Saturday and Sunday.
