CSULB Hosts Steppenwolf Classes West Summer Intensive

Steppenwolf Classes West will offer a month long summer intensive for professional and soon to be professional actors, hosted by California State University Long Beach’s Theatre Arts Department and department chair Anne D’Zmura. Twenty Eight students from around the world will take part in this 6 day a week, 12-15 hour a day program which will begin on Monday, July 21, 2014.

The Intensive Ensemble will present a new work developed by the students during their class work and based on Greek Theatre texts. This new work will be presented to the public, free of charge, on August 15, 2014 at 5p, in front of the Theatre Building on the CSU LB campus. The teaching faculty includes Jeff Perry, star of Scandal, Alexandra Billings who will be featured in the upcoming Amazon show Transparent, Kim Rubinstein, award-winning director and professor of acting at San Diego State University and Eric Hunicutt, noted teacher of improvisation as well as working actor/director and member of the Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab.

Classes will include Viewpoints, an actor and ensemble building training approach, Improvisation and Scene Study classes. Master classes will feature Linda Lowy, Emmy and Artios Award winning casting director; CSU LB Head of Acting Professor Hugh O’Gorman, ‘Jeff Singer’ on AMC’s critically acclaimed, Emmy and CableAce award-winning show Remember WENN; and Actor/Teacher Chris Shaw, who will be seen in the upcoming movie Annabelle, the prequel to last summer’s box office hit The Conjuring.
