Culinary Arts Meets Creative Arts in Second “Cooking Class for a Cause” benefiting Arts and Services for the Disabled, Inc.
Following a successful “Cooking for a Cause” event in July, Culinary Coach and Arts and Services for the Disabled have come together again for an unforgettable afternoon of friendship and fundraising through a shared love of food, cooking and the arts. The special culinary class hosted by Prep Kitchen Essentials and conducted by Chef Denter, will focus on sauce-making techniques featuring a menu that includes Sautéed Shrimp on Angel Hair Pasta with Three Sauces (Alfredo Sauce, Pesto Sauce, Tomato Coulis) and Filet of Beef & Poached Lobster (Green Peppercorn & Bernaise Sauces and Champagne Lemon Butter), among others.
“We had a very successful event in July, and we are thrilled Chef Denter has agreed to do it again in September,” says Arts & Services for the Disabled Director, Helen Dolas. “Whether it’s creative arts or culinary arts, expressing yourself is fun and therapeutic. ASD appreciates the support of Culinary Coach and Prep Kitchen Essentials to help ensure our students can continue to learn and grow through our program.”
Chef Gregg Denter, owner/chef-instructor at Culinary Coach, provides custom, in-home cooking classes and parties in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. “Sauces are a great way to turn an ordinary meal into something flavorful and extraordinary, and the techniques taught in the class can be used in a variety of ways,” said Chef Denter. “We had a wonderful time at the last event, and we’re pleased to continue our support by ‘getting saucy’ for such a great cause.”
The event is being hosted by Prep Kitchen Essentials in Los Alamitos. The class will start at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 12. The cost is $125 per person, and 100 percent of the proceeds will be donated to ASD. Also available at the event will be culinary gift baskets, student art, Belli Famiglia Olive Oil and Opalo Reserve Zinfandel 2009 from Remo Belli Vineyards, with all sales proceeds benefiting ASD.
