DA Files Charges Related to Recent Homicide

On January 18, 2012, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed charges against a suspect believed to be responsible for the January 5, 2012, murder of 19-year-old Jeff Pouncil of Long Beach, and the attempted murder of a 19-year-old male from Long Beach, who was with Victim Pouncil at the time of the shooting, which occurred in the area of 21st Street and Orange Avenue at approximately 12:02 p.m.
Through their investigation, Long Beach Police Homicide detectives were led to 18-year-old Andre Bisserup of Long Beach as the person they believed responsible for what they determined was a gang-motivated shooting. They learned that he had been arrested on January 6, 2012, by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department on an unrelated grand theft property charge, and he remains in their custody.
On January 18, 2012, detectives presented their case to the District Attorney’s office who filed one count of murder and one count of attempted murder with gang allegations against Suspect Bisserup. He will be arraigned in Long Beach Superior Court, Department J, on Thursday, January 26, 2012.
