The Dawn Patrol’s Charity Relay Swim From Catalina To Long Beach On Target To Raise $40,000 For Local Charities

the dawn patrol swim 2010Fundraising efforts are in high gear as The Swim 2010 surpasses the $25,000 mark, moving closer to the $40,000 goal set by The Dawn Patrol back in May. Momentum is building from individual donations, sponsorship funds from over 22 local businesses and ticket donations to the August 1st Celebration Party at the Long Beach Yacht Club.

The Dawn Patrol will be swimming their 28.3 mile relay from Catalina to the Long Beach on Sunday, August 1st. Scott Meyer, Pete Cassiano, Matt Hanson, Chris Geer, Steve Schlom, Michael Bergkvist and Shawn Oatey will be swimming through the night to raise money for the Children Today, Casa Youth Shelter, Habitat For Humanity, and Breast Cancer Angels charities. They will finish their estimated 14 hour swim at the Long Beach Yacht Club, and a family-friendly Celebration Party has been organized at the club to celebrate their accomplishment with friends, family, and supporters.

The Celebration Party is open to the public and tickets, made as a donation, are available on the Swim 2010 website or directly from The Dawn Patrol at for $50/Adult and $15/Child. The event will be summer casual and include fun and games in the pool, a Santa Maria Style BBQ and live entertainment featuring The Eggmen Beatles Tribute Band.

The party starts at 1pm and lasts until 8pm on Sunday afternoon.
