Detectives Arrest Man in Connection With Recent Murder Case

On Wednesday, August 19, 2015, detectives from the Long Beach Police Department arrested an individual in connection with the August 18th murder of 21-year-old Junior Jimenez of Los Angeles, and charges have been filed.
On Tuesday, August 18, 2015, at approximately 9:11 p.m., officers responded to the 1100 block of E. 10th Street in regards to reports of a battery that just occurred. Officer arrived and learned Jimenez had been struck with a bottle during a fight with another male adult subject. Jimenez was later pronounced deceased at a local hospital and the suspect remained outstanding.
Homicide detectives immediately started working the case, following clues that led them to identify the suspect as 50-year-old Enrique Pina Carrillo of Long Beach. Detectives tracked Carrilo down and arrested him in the 800 block of E. Pacific Coast Highway at approximately 8:19 p.m., Wednesday evening.
Detectives are still investigating the motive that started the fight, however the preliminary investigation leads detectives to believe Jimenez and Carrilo were associates.
This morning, detectives presented the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office who filed murder and weapons charges against Carrillo. He is currently being held at the Long Beach Jail on $1,000,000 bail.
