The Long Beach Police Department has arrested a male subject in connection with the sexual assault of an adult female victim and it is believed that additional victims may exist.
The sexual assault occurred in August 2013 after the suspect met the victim in a local bar and she became intoxicated. The suspect transported the intoxicated victim to his residence in the area of Ocean Boulevard and Orange Avenue, where he sexually assaulted her. Following the assault, the victim fled the residence and called police.
After a thorough investigation, the suspect, identified as 52-year-old Steven DeSisto of Long Beach, was arrested on January 15, 2014, at approximately 8:15 a.m. in the 500 block of East 1st Street by members of the Sex Crimes Detail and Violent Sexual Predator Unit. DeSisto was booked for three felony charges and one misdemeanor, including two counts of felony sexual assault, one felony count of drug possession, and one misdemeanor count of photographing an unconscious person. He is currently being held in the Long Beach City Jail on $2,000,000 bail pending his arraignment, which is tentatively scheduled for Friday, January 17, 2014.
The investigation is ongoing and investigators believe there may be additional victims who have never contacted police.
