DLBA Granting Sponsorship Funds; Accepting Applications Through January 2

The Downtown Long Beach Associates (DLBA) is now granting funds for the second round of its quarterly Downtown event sponsorship program. Applications are being accepted through January 2, 2013, for events that take place between February 2013 and May 2013.
“Following a successful first round of this sponsorship program where we supported three great Downtown events, we’re excited to continue this support as we enter into the second round,” said Michelle Manire, DLBA Board Member and Chair of the Marketing and Special Events Task Force (MSETF). “By continuing to support events throughout the community, the DLBA is able to work together to enhance the Downtown experience for residents, visitors and employees, while building upon the variety of events we produce throughout the year.”
In addition to the 10-plus events that the DLBA produces each year, the DLBA and its MSETF recognizes the importance of supporting other events that contribute to a lively and exciting Downtown. The DLBA and its MSETF has made $20,000 available to support this event sponsorship program with a maximum of $2,500 awarded for an approved proposal during the DLBA’s 2012-2013 fiscal year.
During the first quarter of this sponsorship program, the DLBA sponsored Zombie Walk, the East Village’s Second Saturday Art Walk and Winter in Willmore.
All organizations interested in applying for event sponsorships should review the funding guidelines, application, and quarterly submission deadlines posted online at www.downtownlongbeach.org/marketing-events-task-force. Submissions must be endorsed by a Downtown stakeholder.
Applications are currently being accepted for events that take place between February and May 2013. All applications for this time frame must be submitted to the DLBA office via fax at (562) 437-7850 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org, by January 2, 2013. Following this round, the next funding period will be June to September 2013, and those applications must be submitted by May 1, 2013. Sponsorships will be awarded after careful consideration by the MSETF.
All events must comply with funding guidelines and be performed within the business improvement district boundaries, which are from the waterfront to the south, 10th Street to the north, 710 freeway to the west and Alamitos Avenue to the east.
