The Downtown Residential Council (DRC), will hold its end of the year holiday forum December 19, 2011 at Avia Long Beach. Meetings are free, open to the public, and all Downtown residents are encouraged to attend.
The Downtown Residential Council is comprised of resident leaders from the six Downtown neighborhood associations: Promenade Area Residents Association, Ocean Residents Community Association, North Pine Neighborhood Alliance, West End Community Association, Willmore City Heritage Association, and East Village Association.
“The DRC consists of residents from across the Downtown and represents a diverse set of interests and perspectives, but we all share a genuine and passionate desire to continuously enhance Downtown, and the experience of living here” said Michael Vanderbeek, DRC President.
The Downtown Residential Council Holiday Forum is December 19, 2011 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., at Avia Long Beach, located at 285 Bay Street at the Pike in Downtown Long Beach.
Special guest speakers include Vice Mayor Suja Lowenthal and Councilmember Robert Garcia, a presentation by Conventions and Visitors Bureau CEO Steve Goodling, and a neighborhood roundtable. There will also be a holiday giving tree (*please bring canned food items), and a holiday raffle.
Founded in 2009, the DRC represents Downtown Long Beach residents living in the area loosely bound to the south by the ocean, to the north by Anaheim Street, to the west by the I-710 freeway, and to the east by Alamitos Avenue. The DRC serves as a forum for neighborhood associations to join together to discuss common issues of concern and work together for the benefit of all Downtown residents by making Downtown Long Beach a better place to live, work and play.
