Celebrate Earth Day at Urban Farm with Growing Experience

The Growing Experience will commemorate the 40-year anniversary of Earth Day with a community celebration at its urban farm located within the Carmelitos Housing Development on Thursday, April 22, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The Earth Day Celebration will include: appetizers prepared by Local Chefs with farm produce, demonstrations on energy and resource conservation, information on Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, interactive eco-freindly informational booths and workshops, children’s activities, mural painting and live music.
The Growing Experience features a seven-acre urban farm and community garden, where sustainably grown produce is provided locally to area residents and restaurants. The facilities are open for educational tours to community groups and schools, and training programs are provided for low-income youth in Long Beach area.
The Growing Experience Garden is located at 750 Via Carmelitos inside the Carmelitos Housing Development and can be accessed from Atlantic Avenue at 52nd Street or from Orange Avenue at Via Wanda.
The Earth Day Celebration is a collaborative effort between T’sSpace and The Growing Experience. These organizations share the goal of empowering residents to grow, eat and prepare local produce, create a healthy lifestyle and build community.
