Bird Count And Educational Tours At The El Dorado Nature Center

Great Backyard Bird Count: Join folks at the Nature Center to become a scientist for a day! Help to count our feathery friends and gather data that helps determine the effects of global warming on birds. The Bird Count will occur Saturday, February 19, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Educational Tours: Group tours at the Nature Center are available for all ages and interests. Tours are given from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday to Sunday. To register, call (562) 570-1745.
- Badger Touris for scouts looking to enhance their merit badges with a 1-1/2 hour program focused on a specific badge. This tour is $4 per person, ages 5-18.
- Beetle Brigade shows children how young plants and animals grow and flourish as winter turns to spring. Animal babies, seeds and flowers will be the focus of our exploration. Sing a song, listen to a story, or make friends with a puppet! This program is 1-1/2 hours long, $4 per person, with a minimum of 10 participants.
- Discovery Tour gives elementary teachers the chance to explore with their students! This naturalist-guided tour helps you make discoveries through hands-on investigation and activities designed to support Academic Content Standards of the various grade levels. This tour is $5 per person.
- Adopt a Beach “Explore the Shore” 5th Grade Touris a hands-on, two-hour program where students will use scientific tools and instruments to discover how water sustains all life on earth and how the water cycle shapes local watershed and affects the marine ecosystem. This tour is available at Granada or Cherry Beach and is $5 per persons.
