Eighth District City Council Candidates Al Austin, Lillian Kawasaki, and Gustavo Rivera have confirmed attendance at the Los Cerritos Neighborhood Association’s (LCNA) first neighborhood event of 2012: The Los Cerritos Candidate Forum.

The forum will take place on Wednesday, March 7, 6:00pm at Los Cerritos Elementary School’s Auditorium, 515 W. San Antonio Drive. Candidate Forum will begin immediately following a short LCNA presentation. The debate is scheduled to last one hour and fifteen minutes, including a “lightning” round.

Jeff Kellogg, former 8th District City Council Member and current Long Beach Community College Trustee, will serve as sole moderator. Interested parties can submit questions by e-mail to Rick.Ivey@loscerritosna.org. Members of LCNA will review and prepare all questions in advance.

“This Forum will be an opportunity to hear the candidates who are running for the 8th District Long Beach City Council position. The seat will be vacated by Councilwoman Rae Gabelich who has served two four-year terms. The Candidates have very different points of view and the Association felt that it was critical for residents to hear them speak before voting,” said Rick Ivey, LCNA President.

The 8th City Council District, whose boundaries were modified as a result of redistricting last July, generally includes Bixby to the south, South Street to the north, Orange Avenue and Cherry on the east and the west is bordered by the LA River. The public is invited to attend.

Absentee ballots will arrive in the mail on March 12 and the election will be held on April 10.
