On Saturday, May 10, at 2:00 PM, the El Dorado Neighborhood Library will host an LA Opera Lecture Series featuring the opera, A Streetcar Named Desire. This program is part of the LA Opera Lecture Series, presented by LA Opera’s Community Educator Anne Russell Sullivan and hosted by John Spear.  The LA Opera Lecture Series presents insightful talks on opera’s history, literature, philosophy and fine arts.

Clinging desperately to a masquerade of Southern grace, Blanche DuBois moves into her sister’s cramped apartment, creating all the wrong kinds of sparks with her crude brother-in-law. When dark truths about Blanche’s past begin to emerge, her world comes apart at the seams in a spiral of violence and madness.

Exploring A Streetcar Named Desire is free.  Save the date, Saturday, May 10. Light refreshments will be served and a free opera-related gift will be given out at the end of the presentation.

El Dorado Neighborhood Library is located at 2900 Studebaker Road. For more information on this program or other El Dorado Library Services, please call 562-570-3136. For information on other Long Beach Public Library services programs, call 562-570-7500 or visit www.lbpl.org.
