Election results for City of Long Beach 7th District Council seat available tonight

Election results for the City of Long Beach 7th District Council seat will be available on the City’s website . After the close of polls, the first report of results will be posted on the City website shortly after 8:20 p.m.; and unofficial contest results will be posted between 10:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.
There are two candidates seeking election to this office: incumbent Council Member Tonia Reyes Uranga, and Assistant City Auditor James Johnson. Both candidates advanced to the June 8th run-off election as they were the top-two finishers in the City’s April 13, 2010, Primary Nominating Election.
The 7th District includes California Heights, Bixby Highlands, the Wrigley area, and a portion of west Long Beach. The District comprises 25,281 registered voters. Voter turnout is projected to be in the range of 22% to 27%; and more than 50% of the ballots are projected to be voted-by-mail.
Upon completion of the post-Election Day canvass, the elected candidate will take office on July 20, 2010.
