Employee Fatally Wounded During Robbery

crime-scene-tape Employee killed during RobberyOn Saturday, January 22, 2011, Long Beach police officers responded to a business on the 1900-block of East 4th Street regarding a call of shots fired. When officers arrived, they discovered the body of an adult male who was the victim of a gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. He has been identified as Sor Phouam, a 53-year-old resident of Long Beach. A preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects entered the business with the intent to commit a robbery. During the robbery the victim, an employee of the store, was fatally shot. The suspects are only being described as two male Hispanics wearing dark clothing and the weapon used was an unknown type of handgun. There is no vehicle information available at this time. 

Homicide investigators are still following up on clues and leads and are continuing their investigation, along with the Los Angeles County Coroners Office.
