On February 25, 2013, at approximately 9:50 p.m., Long Beach Police responded to a report of shots heard in the 4800 block of Clair Del Avenue, which resulted in the death of a female adult, and the wounding of a male teenage juvenile.
Officers arrived at an apartment complex and discovered that a woman and her teenage son had been shot inside their apartment. The woman was determined deceased at the scene, and her son was transported to a local hospital where he remains in critical but stable condition.
The suspect, who was husband to the woman and stepfather to the teen, fled the scene. He later surrendered himself to the L.A.P.D. while in Los Angeles, who subsequently released him to the custody of the Long Beach Police Department.
