On Friday, the Community College Association (CCA), the bargaining unit that represents Long Beach City College (LBCC) full-time faculty, approved a three-year contract agreement with Long Beach Community College District (LBCCD).

The contract agreement provides for a new salary structure that is beneficial to full-time faculty while ensuring that the structure is fiscally responsible and affordable for the District. The new Full-time Faculty Salary Schedule will be reflected in the November paychecks.

“The Long Beach Community College District is pleased that we have reached an agreement with CCA,” said Long Beach Community College District Superintendent-President Eloy Ortiz Oakley. “This agreement includes a salary increase that is acceptable to both faculty and LBCCD. I want to thank CCA leaders and members for ratifying this contract that will assist us in recruiting high quality faculty. I look forward to working together to provide one of the best community college educations in California.”

“Our union has always believed that the working conditions of teachers are the learning conditions of our students. This new contract makes Long Beach City College a better place for our students, our teachers, and our community,” said Dr. Lynn Shaw, President of CCA-Long Beach City College. “The teachers at Long Beach City College are committed to educating our students and ensuring that the classroom experience is excellent.”
