As children grow, so do their interests. Parks, Recreation and Marine is offering classes that can supplement their school work this fall with subjects your child is passionate about. Our wide variety of subjects includes Art & Cultural, Dance, Music, Enrichment, Fitness, and Sports. Be sure to check out our new classes this season: Musical Theatre Intensive Workshop, Holiday Art & Activities, and Star Hoppers Social Skill Building!
Musical Theatre Intensive Workshop will expose students to stage direction, theater terms, vocal training, light choreography, and theater/acting style exercises in which they will learn techniques in order to become a better performer. At the end of the six-week period, students will perform a musical selection that incorporates all of the elements learned in class. This course will begin on September 14, and continue every Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:30pm for six weeks at Stearns Champions Park. The cost is only $60 per student, and each student must be 10 years of age or older.
Holiday Art & Activities will help your child enjoy the holiday season and create life lasting holiday memories and memorabilia. This class consists of art projects, crafts, and creative ways to celebrate the holiday. Families will be given handouts and info on holiday recipe ideas, and fun and educational games are included! There is a $20 material fee payable to the instructor, Browns. Our Halloween session will take place on Wednesday, October 13, from 5-6:30pm at Heartwell Park. The Thanksgiving class will occur Wednesday, November 10, from 5-6:30pm at Heartwell Park. This course is for children age 5 to 13 years and costs $15 per student.
Star Hoppers is an innovative psycho/music program to develop process, help children work independently and simultaneously enhance social skills. Your kids will love hopping, running, and galloping with Mr. Drum! Their confidence will grow as they spin poi and tell hand stories with song. The second session will take place on Saturdays, 9:15-10:15am, from October 30 to November 20 at El Dorado Park. This course is for children ages 4 to 7 years old, $36 per student.
