Family Friendly Summer Events; Be S.A.F.E. Program Series Kicks Off Today

The City of Long Beach, Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine invites the public to a kick-off event for the Be S.A.F.E. Program, a series of “Summer Activities in a Friendly Environment.” The free event begins at 5 pm on today, Monday, July 8, at Houghton Park, 6301 Myrtle Ave., and features an evening of family fun with moon bounces, face painting, entertainment and refreshments.
“Be S.A.F.E. is the perfect program where young people can enjoy their local parks, have fun, and meet new friends in a safe environment during the summer – all for free,” Mayor Bob Foster said.
The Be S.A.F.E. program serves neighborhoods by keeping parks open later Monday through Friday from July 8 through August 30 and offering classes, sports, games, tournaments, recreation and fitness activities and Long Beach Library “On the Go Reading Program” activities.
