Festival of Lights in Downtown Long BeachMore than 30 businesses will join the holiday spirit this year by decorating for the season as part of the Downtown Long Beach Associates’ (DLBA) annual Festival of Lights promotion taking place from December 1 through 24.

Downtown consumers are encouraged to visit the participating businesses and vote for their favorite holiday display. Those who vote will be entered to win a $100 Downtown Prize Package.

The winners will be announced in the January edition of the DLBA’s monthly e-newsletter, the Downtown Scene.

As a means of dressing Downtown for the season, the DLBA placed holiday swags, wreaths, lights and garlands on Pine Avenue, from First Street to Tenth Street, and on Broadway from Pine Avenue to Alamitos Avenue. Further, the DLBA, SMG, operators of the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center, and the Long Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) have collaborated to create a cohesive holiday décor design for Downtown’s Promenade. By working together to create an overall design, the DLBA and its civic partners have been able to cultivate connections throughout Downtown’s main pedestrian thoroughfare.

As a part of this new décor this year, the DLBA installed lighted wreaths along Promenade North from Ocean Boulevard to Broadway and around Promenade Square. The DLBA will continue to expand this holiday décor program next year by extending these decorations on The Promenade to Third Street. The CVB and SMG placed similar wreaths along Promenade South, while also adding lighting wraps, snowflakes and silver trees to the Terrace Theatre Plaza. These decorations will be on display by December 2 and will remain through the New Year. Trees along the waterfront and the Queen Mary are decked out in festive holiday lighting to enhance the cheerful urban ambiance.
