The morning of Wednesday, December 22, Long Beach Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 1500 block of East 11th Street. Crews discovered a single-story home showing heavy fire with black smoke spewing out of the rear bedroom and roof.
Fire fighters immediately pulled a hotline and charged the hose to make an aggressive interior attack on the raging fire. The second fire engine on the scene pulled another hose-line to aid in the suppression efforts while the crews laddered to the roof to vertically ventilate the home and create safer conditions inside.
Fortunately the occupants all made it out safely and there were no injuries. The American Red Cross was called to assist with the displaced family members.
Twenty Fire Department personnel responded to this incident in the 2nd Council District. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
