First Fridays Celebrates 7th Anniversary with “Day of the Dead”

First Fridays celebrates its 7th Anniversary with “Day of the Dead” in Bixby Knolls. Businesses will participate in an altar contest and will host themed face painting, music, sugar skull coloring, and tasty treats in honor of the holiday.
Also enjoy: Calaca face painting, break dancers, traditional and not-so-traditional music, incense, marigolds, sidewalk chalk, Toaster Music “sound and vision” performance, and anniversary cakes.
- Local favorites MOVE will perform a special Day of the Dead set as part of a “living altar” at the BKBIA office.
- Instagram contributions are encouraged for the Community Photo Mural projected at 4320 Atlantic. #firstfridayslb #artslb
- Attendees are also encouraged to honor loved ones that have passed at the Community Altar
7th District Councilmember James Johnson’s “First Books at First Fridays” at the Dana Branch Library will features the Knolls Ranger as the guest reader. Event begins at 5:30pm.
8th District Councilmember Al Austin’s “Council on Your Corner” will be set up at Atlantic & Carson to meet and greet attendees.

When the businesses start to close, “First Fridays After Hours” begins. Nino’s Italian Restaurant, The Factory, Willmore, and EJ Malloy’s go late into the night with food, drinks, and music. Why go home early? Stay out late and continue the energy.
