First Fridays is Back With a February Mash-Up on Art-lantic

Bixby Knolls’ First Fridays kicks off 2011 with a “Mash Up” on February 4. After a brief winter’s nap in January, First Fridays brings together Valentine’s Day, Chinese New Year, and Black History Month. Grab your coats and a warm heart to experience the unique blending of these sights and sounds coming together on Art-Lantic Avenue.
February First Fridays in Bixby Knolls presents: Live art, experimental music, improv comedy, flower-grams, classic cars, Timstrument, tattoo demonstration, hula, 80s dance tracks, photography, Black History Month tributes, free books, Pee Wee Art, piano man, Dixieland, Big Red Bus, the Knolls Ranger, and plenty of the unexpected.
Councilmember James Johnson’s “First Books at First Fridays” at the Dana Branch Library partners with Animal Care Services for animal-themed books and live animals on display, beginning at 5:30pm. Guest reader of the month will beCouncilwoman Rae Gabelich.
Now available is the Poetry Box book made up of poems, Bixby Knolls lore and history, rants, open hearts, secrets, and wonderful accompanying photographs. The books will be on sale for $25.00 at Roy Robbins Gifts & Stationery and Bella Cosa.
Why go home early? When the businesses start to close, “First Fridays After Hours” begins. Stay out late and continue the energy with a night cap at Nino’s Italian Restaurant or The Factory.
