free workshopLong Beach’s Environmental Services Bureau (ESB) will present Growing Requires Knowing, a special workshop for local manufacturers, designed to get the word out about free business development programs, incentives and tools, plus innovative marketing strategies and new technologies that can help manufacturers grow their business, increase revenues and create jobs.

The workshop will take place on Friday, December 9, 2011 from 8:30 – 10:30 am at the Long Beach Gas & Oil Department, 2400 East Spring St. Workshop co-sponsors include the County of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC), California Manufacturing Technology Consulting (CMTC), and CalRecycle.

“Long Beach is proud to have one of the strongest economic engines in the nation,” said Mayor Bob Foster. “Through the tremendous amount of goods movement that passes through this City, and the various manufacturing companies based in Long Beach, we are beginning to emerge stronger, greener, and better positioned to succeed in today’s dynamic economy.”

Growing Requires Knowing will teach manufacturers how to access the Recycling Market Development Zone (RMDZ) Program – a free program to all eligible California businesses. RMDZ combines recycling with economic development to fuel new businesses, expand existing ones, create jobs, and divert waste from landfills. Businesses may be eligible for attractive loans, technical assistance, and free product marketing through the RMDZ.

Through Growing Requires Knowing, today’s business leaders will engage in a one-day learning experience designed to teach tools that will grow our local economy. Learn how to make hiring employees easier and cheaper from professionals at the Pacific Gateway Workforce Investment Network. The Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation’s team of economic-development professionals will also be available to teach strategic marketing strategies and new technologies that will help businesses build business and increase revenues.
