Friends of Long Beach Animals (FOLBA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to responsible pet ownership, education and humane treatment of all animals, has donated a new medical suite with a surgical room to Long Beach Animal Care Services (LBACS).

“This very generous donation will help our Animal Care Services expand and enhance the veterinary services we offer to animals in our care,” said Mayor Robert Garcia.

The new 800-square-foot medical suite will provide a much larger space for the LBACS medical team to work. City funds paid for spay/neuter equipment, two examination tables and equipment, and recovery cages for the medical suite.

“I am very grateful for the support provided by the Friends of Long Beach Animals,” said Marie Knight, Director of Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine. “The new medical suite will help more animals be in a better position to be adopted.”

In the near future, LBACS will be looking for a partner organization or sponsor to use the medical suite to provide free or low cost spay/neuter surgeries to the public.
