Friends of Bixby Park to Host Dinner and Silent Auction Fundraiser Under the Stars at MOLAA

Friends of Bixby Park will host a dinner and silent auction on Thursday, February 10th, 2011 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Museum of Latin American Art , located at 628 Alamitos Ave in Long Beach . KKJZ-FM’s Helen Borgers will host an evening of wine tasting, seated dinner and silent auction, historic photo exhibit, live music, historian guest speakers and a Special Appreciation to Phil Hester, Former Director of Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine. Friends of Bixby Park ’s fundraising event will raise funds to restore Long Beach ’s historic Bixby Park , once the site for Iowan immigrant family picnics and influential political discussions and rallies. Tickets are $65 per person and $100 per couple. To purchase tickets, please call (562) 983-8139.
A wine tasting and accoutrements will begin at 6 p.m. , program to begin at 7 p.m. Guest speakers include Dennis Eschen, former Bureau Manager for Long Beach Parks, Recreation, and Marine, Long Beach Heritage President Stanley Poe, Vice Mayor Suja Lowenthal, Bluff Heights Neighborhood Association President John Thomas and Long Beach Shakespeare Company Co-Artistic Director Denis McCourt.
