Gary Delong is running for CongressThe Gary DeLong for Congress campaign is proud to announce the endorsements of Lakewood Mayor Larry Van Nostran, Vice-Mayor Diane DuBois, Councilmembers Todd Rogers and Jeff Wood, and local resident and business owner Ron Piazza.

“Gary DeLong has earned the reputation of someone who is willing to work with all people, regardless of political party, and build consensus.  We need more representatives like Gary who will put the needs of his constituents ahead of partisan politics,” said Lakewood Mayor Larry Van Nostran.

These endorsements join previous endorsements by former Governor George Deukmejian, Congressman Dan Lungren, Congressman Dana Rohrabacher, Congressman Ed Royce, State Board of Equalization Vice-Chair Michelle Steel, California State Senator Tom Harman, Los Angeles Country Supervisors Mike Antonovich and Don Knabe, Orange County Supervisors Pat Bates, Shawn Nelson and Janet Nguyen, Sheriff Sandra Hutchens, District Attorney Tony Rackauckas, many other local elected officials and community leaders, and the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce.

“As the owner/operator of a local business, and a long time resident, I’m supporting Gary DeLong for Congress because he is a fellow small business owner who will stand up for businesses against oppressive government regulations.  Gary knows that the only way to balance the federal budget is to get our economy growing again by supporting the private sector.  Gary is a common sense leader who will represent this community best, by protecting our community values,” stated Ron Piazza, President, Piazza Family Restaurants.

DeLong is currently a member of the Long Beach City Council, Chair of the City’s Budget Oversight Committee and Federal Legislation Committee, as well as Chairman of the Alameda Corridor Transit Authority and the Los Cerritos Wetlands Authority.  Gary also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Aquarium of the Pacific and the Board of Governors for the Long Beach City College Foundation.

““It is an honor to have the endorsements of Lakewood elected officials and business leaders.  I am especially humbled by the fact that these endorsements come from both Democrats and Republicans — whose common interest is to work hard on behalf of their community,” said DeLong.

Gary recently embarked on a tour of 100 businesses in 100 days to hear the concerns of small business owners and workers.  During the tour Gary will also share his long-term vision for economic prosperity, and job creation for working families.

Gary DeLong is a third generation Southern Californian who has lived in the Long Beach area for over 25 years. He is currently president of The RTP Group, a Southern California based telecommunications company. DeLong resides in Long Beach with his wife Dawna and daughters Danielle, Elizabeth and Katie.
