Go Long Beach Goes Android; Download City App from Android Marketplace
2010-12-31 · By Editor
On Wednesday the City of Long Beach launched the Android version of the Go Long Beach smartphone app. The new release comes just two months after the iPhone and mobile web versions of the app were announced in October. The newest Go Long Beach app makes it easy for Android phone owners to report common problems such as potholes, graffiti, sidewalk damage, and other service needs to the City.
Once downloaded onto a Smartphone, all versions of the “Go Long Beach” app allow the public to quickly report problems to be fixed, instead of waiting to locate a phone number and make a call, write a detailed e-mail, or even remember to report the problem at all. The service categories are graffiti, graffiti in parks, broken drinking fountains in parks, potholes, illegally dumped items, street signs, sidewalk damage, and overgrown weeds on private property. More categories will be added in the future to further address the community’s needs.
Download Go Long Beach App for Android, iPhone or Blackberry
Android users can download the “Go Long Beach” App from the Android Marketplace and iPhone users can download the app from the App Store. Blackberry users can access the service from the mobile web App at www.golbcity.com, which is also available to anyone with Internet access.
The City of Long Beach iPhone app, which was launched in October 2010, has resulted in approximately 800 requests for service. The application allows users to upload a photo of graffiti, sidewalk damage, or potholes, and then uses GPS tracking technology to instantly report the location of the issue.
