When people think twice about what they donate, where they donate and how their donations affect others that can have a powerful impact on the world. To encourage people to think twice, Goodwill has launched the “Donate Movement,” an education and outreach campaign designed to help consumers learn to “de-clutter responsibly” through donations and recycling.
It’s not all about education, though. Anyone that joins the “Donate Movement” this summer will also get free tickets to see an L.A. Galaxy soccer game.
During during July and August a partnership between LA Goodwill and LA Galaxy Soccer will provide a voucher for two tickets to one of the following Galaxy games: July 22 vs. San Jose Earthquakes; Aug. 1 vs. Chicago Fire; Aug. 28 vs. Kansas City Wizards; Sept. 11 vs. Columbus Crew; Sept. 18 vs. DC United; Sept. 24 vs. New York Red Bulls.
“When you donate items you no longer need to Goodwill, you are helping someone find a job, strengthening your community and preserving the planet,” said Janet McCarthy-Wilson, President and CEO of Goodwill, Serving the People of Southern Los Angeles County. “Your donations also help the environment by allowing other people to repurpose the items so they can be diverted from landfills.”
So, the next time you donate, remember to ask for a voucher to get free tickets to a L.A. Galaxy soccer game. There are no limits on the number of times one can donate and receive a voucher. The tickets for each game are on a first come basis, so donors can send in as many voucher forms as they wish for their selected games. Tickets will be at Will Call for pick-up on the day of selected games.
Last year, 67 million donors gave items to Goodwill. These donors helped Goodwill agencies provide critical services to nearly 2 million people. Goodwill provides job training programs, employment placement services and other community-based services to people with disabilities, those who lack education or job experience and others facing challenges to finding employment. Goodwill’s mission is fulfilled through the collection and sale of donated goods, which fund these critical programs.
