Goodwill SOLAC Celebrates Healthcare Grad Class fall 2012

Goodwill, Serving the People of Southern Los Angeles County (Goodwill SOLAC) held a graduation ceremony this week to honor Goodwill’s Health Care Training Program’s fall 2012 class. Students received their certificates of completion for Certified Nurse Assistant and Certified Home Health Aide.
Graduate Irene Madison said, “I had a dream. I knew what I wanted to do, but I didn’t know where to start, so I came here. Goodwill gave me a chance and the staff kept me focused throughout the program.”
The graduates were commended for their 18 weeks of hard work in completing the program, which provides classroom and clinical training, and prepares students to qualify for the state of California Certified Nurse Assistant and Certified Home Health Aide exams. Accredited units may be earned toward the LVN and RN programs at Long Beach City College and California State University, Long Beach.
Graduate Calletta Westbrook thanked Goodwill SOLAC staff for their support. “This is the place that can get you started, and I am so grateful to be a part of this program.”
Last year Goodwill SOLAC provided services for nearly 6,500 people, trained 1,880 and placed 230 individuals into competitive employment. Goodwill serves the people of southern Los Angeles County as a community resource providing training and employment placement services to individuals with barriers to employment.
